New Smartphone by Hewlett Packard

HP has been around in the smartphone world for a few years now. Some years ago Compaq was taken over by HP. Since then the name iPAQ is being used for mobile phones of Hewlett Packard. Mid 2007 HP put the iPAQ 514 voice messenger on the market. The HP iPAQ 514 is a straight to the point business device. The consumer looking for a cell phone with a high resolution camera and enhanced multimedia player should forget about the HP 514. The HP iPAQ 514 has been equipped with Windows Mobile 6 and offers many functions that will appeal to the business user. Thanks to its price of around € 200 we can easily call it the cheapest business handset at the moment.

The HP iPAQ 514 cell phone has a simple straightforward design. At first you'd think a device of this price would not feel too solid. On the contrary; despite the plastic housing the device has a high quality feel and does not look like a cheap cell phone. It is not the thinnest or smallest of devices. Nor is it a large one with its dimensions of 107x48.6x16.3mm. On the device's left hand side there is a rubber cover covering the compartment for a microSD memory card. On the front the buttons and a 2-inch monitor are found. The handset is black with dark grey colours. These colours have silver-coloured accents. The HP iPAQ 514 voice messenger has a professional look thanks to these serene colours.

First Impression of the Samsung Omnia phone

A new introduction of a mobile phone is always an event of great importance. Samsung is aware of this fact and usually a launch party is arranged in order to introduce a new product. Samsung Netherlands launched the Omnia in "Huis ter Duin" in Noordwijk, the "home" of the Dutch football team, as the football enthusiasts among us will probably know. And famous were the people gathered for the introduction of the Samsung Omnia i900. The Samsung handset was originally sold as a special Millionaire Pack, including a copy of the Millionaire magazine, a pouch and a Bluetooth headset. A similar introduction as that of the U900 Soul. Samsung linked a special action to it as well; a diamond could be won, as well as a free Bluetooth headset. This great introduction and the special Millionaire Pack have definitely added to the success of the Omnia smartphone so far.

The Samsung Millionaire Pack adds just that little extra to the Omnia i900. The black matte package carrying the text: Omnia Millionaire Pack and an image of the mobile phone is tied together with a strap containing pictures that appeal to the millionaire feeling of the purchaser. It also refers to a special promotion with many prizes, among which: being a millionaire for one day. Inside the box, the Samsung Omnia is found in its regular package, including the Millionaire magazine, a Bluetooth headset in the same color as the mobile phone and a leather pouch. The regular package contains, besides the phone, a battery charger, headset, data cable, stylus pen, manuals and a software CD. The Samsung Omnia features a tight front with only three buttons right below the large touchscreen. The back is neat too, only offering the 5.0 megapixel camera.

The design of the HP Compaq 2230s is somewhat like a black Apple MacBook, with a clean all-black plastic exterior. As far as business notebooks go, it is HP’s attempt to compete with the Dell Vostro line, offering a more consumer look and feel to a business notebook. The all-black color scheme continues into the interior of the notebook, with the palmrest, touchpad, keyboard, and trim all covered in matching black. An interesting design change over a consumer notebook is the touch sensitive controls above the keyboard which normally activate media functions. On the HP 2230s, these control system functions such as external displays, wireless on/off, and volume.
